Who knew that grenadine what such a hot commodity right now? I ventured out to three different stores before giving up hope of finding my coveted item. Instead, I hit the local grocery store on the way home and grabbed a bottle of POM 100% pomegranate juice.
Time for plan B, homemade grenadine. If you're in a pinch this recipe is easy to make and will store in the fridge for about a month. Simply mix equal parts pomegranate juice and sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium low, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Pull off the heat right before it comes to a boil and allow to cool for an hour. If you have orange flower water, throw in a few dashes. I did not, so I improvised with a few dashes of fresh lemon juice. Now, let us continue our tasting journey of the oh so tasty Planter's Punch.
