Let's talk day drinking. Maybe your hosting an afternoon cookout that you know will go into the evening hours or hanging out with friends for the day. Or like me, you have a long day of yard work you have to tackle. The last thing you want to reach for is a full octane, alcoholic beverage that will have you in bed before noon. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
No, you need something that's low ABV, refreshing, somewhat diluted and easy to make (or better yet, easy enough to make a pitchers worth so you don't have to play bartender). Yes, I know the grocery store has already chilled hard seltzer. But they taste artificial, they're expensive and I really don't care for them. Instead, I'm returning back to that bottle of Pimm's sitting quietly on the bar. And once last thing, don't forget to hydrate with plenty of water in between cocktails...
His Cocktail - Pimm's and Tonic
2 oz Pimm's #1
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz Simple syrup
Tonic Water (Fever Tree)
Cucumber garnish
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the Pimm's and lemon juice. Shake until chilled. Strain into a double rocks or collins glass filled with ice. Top with tonic and stir. Garnish.
Her Cocktail - Pimm's Sundowner
2 oz Pimm's #1
1 oz Fresh lemon juice
1 oz Fresh orange juice
1 oz Apple juice
Dash simple syrup (if needed)
Lemon twist garnish
Fill a collins or double rocks glass with ice. Add Pimm's and fruit juices. Stir to chill. Throw on a splash of simple syrup if needed and garnish.
Happy Drinking!
