Happy 4th of July everyone!
This week's cocktail took a little thought. Do we go red/white/blue theme? Do you make it frozen? What do we want the cocktail to focus on and then it hit me. We're celebrating America's Independence day. We're celebrating all things American and what makes this country great. So with that, we are making this year's cocktail, American inspired and American made.
We picked a Kentucky bourbon as our base. Why not? After all, if it was a good enough spirit for our Founding Fathers to make and consume, then it should absolutely be good enough for us. We're using Blenheim ginger ale from a small company located at the South Carolina border. Our grenadine also comes out of South Carolina thanks to a small little company you may have heard of, Jack Rudy's.

His & Hers Cocktails - Chucktown Sunrise
2 tablespoons Buffalo Trace Bourbon
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh squeezed lime
6 tablespoons Blenheim ginger ale (or ginger beer)
1/4 teaspoon Jack Rudy's grenadine
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the bourbon and lime juice. Shake until well chilled. Strain into an old fashioned glass filled with ice. Top with ginger ale/beer. Drizzle with grenadine.
